Our flight wasn’t until three and we had a car. We decided to explore Fazana, a pretty little fishing village and the jumping off point for Brijuni National Park formerly Tito’s personal summer residence where visitors can visit the Safari Park, an archaeological site and a host of other activities for tourists. Croatia has been hosting tourists since Diocletian set up a palace in Split around 290AD. They really know their stuff.
We boarded a smallish aircraft where carry-on was very limited. Basically small backpacks only. It was smooth and only lasted an hour. The woman at the DB information kiosk suggested we take a four day pass which would allow access to all forms of transport and basically we could even go to nearby towns, the card covered a large area. We easily found the S8 and forty-five minutes latter we were at the Munchen Hauptbahnhof. The station is big and busy and a bit confusing as there are major construction works going on in and around the building. Our hotel was adjacent and we eventually worked through the maze.

Pam had told us about a lovely street beginning at Sendlinger Tor and running towards Marienplats. It was a gem. We found the church too which was stunning. St Johannes Nepomuk, also known as the Asam Church, as it was built between 1733 and 1746 by the Asam brothers for themselves. It is a wonderful example of the Baroque style.

Who would have thought it would be a culinary journey. We had Italian, French and Chinese and then German beer of course. The travel card gave us so many options and being beside the main station also encouraged us to explore.

One of the highlights was the Dallmayr Delikatessenhaus where John was enthralled. We found the café upstairs and had coffee and cake.

The hotel was well located with loads of restaurants around and easy access to the city. The room, while spacious was dark and we’ve reached an age where we really need to be able to see what we are doing! The spa and pool area were sensational and John and I made the most of those facilities. Our time was up and we’re off again. Auf wiedersehen Deutschland….Hola Espana!
