The 24 is such a good route. It’s only a couple of hundred metres up the
road and we get to so many destinations and the route is so interesting. The
British Museum has an amazing exhibition showing at the moment – Legion: Life
in the Roman Army- and we are keen to see it. We arrived early, as advised
by the website, because that is the quietest time, only to find the queue about a kilometre long!!!! Nah not today!!! Coffee calls.

We wandered around Bloomsbury had delicious coffee with jam and cream and
John revisited his favourite travel book shop, Stanford’s. We also had to sort
out John’s phone. We had installed e-sims and while mine worked a treat John just
could not get his to function at all. We acquiesced and bought a local sim from Vodafone. It
will do. It works. The sim for Europe will have to wait. Of course the UK sim no longer works in Europe due to Brexit. Nice!!!!

We are very well located in our little flat and being partial to French food decided that
Grumbles was just too easy, just too convenient, too close and so cosy. We ate
out ….again. We really will have to stop doing this. Tomorrow!
Well it’s now a week and housework calls. Our flat is small so we can easily
stay on top of things but having no washing machine does pose a bit of a
problem.

Of course we couldn’t stay in all day and headed for Tate Britain- a
16 minute walk away. We saw ‘Women in Revolt’ – Art and Activism in the UK
1970-1990. It was massive and so ‘dense’…I can’t think of the right word. It
would have taken a couple of days to see everything. The rest of the gallery
was brilliantly curated. I understood what I was looking at and it was really
well organised, in smaller chunks around decades. The whole gallery is in the
most beautiful building situated on the banks of the Thames. Very impressive!

Back to the flat and time for a warm shower/bath. Interesting that at our age the plunge can present a physical challenge. Getting in and getting out when your sense of balance can be askew and confidence in your physical strength ran off with a stranger a few years ago, makes the prospect of a warm soak nowhere near as attractive as it once was..and the idea of sharing….ha …that has become just absurd!!!! So we look at the
shower over the plunge with trepidation. Who would have thought!!!
